A Day Full of Love at Your Utah Destination Wedding Venue

From start to finish, this couple’s day was centered around being in the presence of their love. As the bride put it, “We wanted the weekend to be focused on love. Love for each other, love for those around us, and love for life. I think we did it.” See how this love spread throughout their day extending to their Moab destination wedding venue itself: The Red Earth Venue.

A Day All About Your Love

Sometimes, I [Hannah] experience a couple whose love is so strong that I can feel it throughout the entire wedding planning timeline. That is Kayla and Thomas. On the wedding day, this feeling of love was just bursting at the seams! Their close knit circle of friends and family in attendance were the exact same way. It was a group of people so in love with the couple which is such a testament to the type of people they are.

As we planned their wedding, we quickly became friends. Making this kind of connection with a couple as their Utah wedding planner just gives the day this extra sense of magic. Kayla and Thomas were intentional with each aspect of their focusing most importantly on getting married, being present, and enjoying every moment. All of this they did!

Thomas’ dad was their wedding officiant while both of their moms witnessed the signing of their Utah wedding license. The ceremony was incredibly heartfelt, and you could just feel that everyone was completely present enjoying activities the couple provided.

Unique Guest Experience Ideas That Involve Your Wedding Guests

  • Waiting at each seat was a personal handwritten letter to each guest from the couple that included a photo of them together. We loved watching everyone's reactions (mostly tears and laughter) as they opened them! This is one of the best DIY wedding favors I have ever seen!

  • Guests signed the border around a framed photo of the couple as well as a shotski!

  • Guests had fun passing around a vintage video camera throughout the night capturing the experience from their perspective.

  • There was a vintage phone audio guest book where guests could leave messages for the couple.

A Destination Wedding Venue That’s The Perfect Backdrop to Your Love

Matching these two with a destination wedding venue like The Red Earth Venue could not have been a better pairing! In my work as an exclusive Moab wedding planner for Red Earth, it’s an absolute joy to witness each couple’s unique experience of the Moab site.

While Kayla and Thomas hail from Salt Lake City, they love visiting Moab often for hiking, climbing, camping, and all types of cycling! Thomas’ parents own a home in Moab where the couple spends good chunks of time especially in 2020 during the lockdowns. These two are adventurers at heart who wanted to celebrate with their families in the place they love.

Their guest list hit the venue’s max capacity (120 people) utilizing the Iron Arches Brick Patio for the ceremony and the South Patio for cocktail hour. The Glass Venue interior and spilling out onto the Iron Arches Brick Patio were used for dinner and dancing under the stars!

They had live music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner switching to a DJ for the party time. The groom’s brother and sister joined the band to sing for the couple's first dance! The bride then switched into a white wedding reception dress for dancing. She was so cute in her cowboy hat and rocked her Louboutins all night long! Guests were also provided with black heart-shaped party glasses.

The newlyweds ended the night in a getaway Jeep with a box of Domino’s Pizza, big smiles, and happy hearts!

Designing a Desert Wedding Day

Contrasting the natural desert wedding venue backdrop that The Red Earth Venue provides, the couple used greenery, flowers, and textural elements. Their desert wedding colors were neutral using desert textures like sandstone complimenting the red rocks and beauty of the venue.

The look we created was romantic, clean, minimal and mindful of the land taking care to use locally-sourced wedding florals. Other design elements and wedding details included crisp ivory linens, black taper candle stick holders, and sandstone tea candles.

The bride was such an organizational queen! She was so easy to work with since she had such a dialed in wedding vision. The day was pretty flawless which is due to the amazing vendors, our planning, the couple’s organization and their killer group of friends and family!

A Reflection From Your Destination Wedding Venue Planner

These two have the biggest hearts. It was so evident from the love felt on the wedding day in every speech, toast, hug, laugh and tear! In Kayla’s own words, she described the wedding weekend as “four days of gathering people for yoga, hiking, drinks, and celebration. We came out feeling absolutely overwhelmed with love.”

They just wanted to party in the desert with their friends: drinking, dancing, and having a good time! At one point, they even snuck away for sunset photos taking full advantage of the vast expanse of their destination wedding venue. It was so special taking time away from their guests for some moments between just the two of them.

The sunset session was spent enjoying the desert, their love, and the fact that they had just said “I do!” They enjoyed being with each other as Kayla adventured through the desert still wearing her Louboutins!

The planning process was so organized, the couple so sweet and fun to work with, and the entire experience was truly special! To quote their wedding officiant, “This land, this time, you two remarkable individuals, you one astonishing couple, these are the things of great stories…”
